FAQs

What is involved in the therapy process?

You start by making an intake appointment, either online or in-person. During the intake session, your therapist will ask you questions to get to know your mental health history, the specific concerns that bring you to counseling, and your goals. Together, you will develop an individualized plan for your work together. Some clients have highly specific goals and some clients have more general goals. It is ok if you are uncertain about where you want to go with your mental health work. You and your therapist can discuss this in the first session and develop ideas together.

Why is therapist fit important?

Studies show that feeling comfortable with your therapist leads to more positive outcomes in therapy. Your therapist should make you feel comfortable and emotionally safe in the therapy room. Many people feel shy at first or have a hard time opening up. However, your therapist should help you to feel more comfortable with this over time. You should feel like your therapist cares about you and wants the best for you.

Is Clarity in-network with insurance?

Clarity Counseling is an out-of-network provider with insurance companies. This means that clients are required to pay session fees at the time of service. However, clients may be eligible to receive out-of-network reimbursement based on the terms of their individual plan.

Does Clarity bill insurance?

Clarity Counseling does not bill insurance. Instead, Clarity Counseling offers a monthly superbill to clients. A superbill is an itemized receipt that allows a client to seek out-of-network reimbursement for counseling services. For example, if the session fee is $150 and your insurance plan reimburses at 60%, after submitting your superbill, you would receive a reimbursement check for $90. For a more detailed explanation about using superbills, please ask your therapist.

Will my insurance company reimburse for out-of-network services?

Many insurance plans do provide reimbursement for out-of-network services. To find out the percentage that you might be eligible to receive, contact your insurance carrier. You may need to ask about reimbursement for service code 90837 (individual therapy) or 90847 (couples/family therapy). The reimbursement amounts may be different for different service codes.

Does Clarity provide crisis response services?

No. Clarity provides counseling services by appointment only. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, dial 988 on your phone or go to the nearest emergency room. You may also reach the Clark County Crisis Line by calling 1-800-626-8137.
